What this weekend is
Barefoot & Free is a weekend to come back to yourself.
It’s three days in the woods filled with movement, music, community, and the kind of deep exhale most of us don’t realize we’ve been needing. Come for the yoga, stay for the feeling: nervous systems softening, laughter around campfires, and that sweet reminder that life is meant to be lived with people.
This festival is designed to feel spacious. You can take classes all day, wander the vendor village, lay in the grass, nap, dance, make new friends, or keep it quiet and restorative. There’s no “right” way to do it, just your way.
Whether you’re coming solo, with friends, or bringing your family, you’re welcome here.

Two Arrivals (Choose the right entrance)
MAIN FESTIVAL ENTRANCE + CHECK-IN (Day/Weekend/VIP — NOT camping)
If you are not camping and not staying in Shala Bunkhouse, arrive at:
Proud Lake Recreation Area Headquarters
3500 N. Wixom Rd
Commerce, MI 48382
This location may also appear as River Hawk Conference Center and Lodge.
Proud Lake is a state recreation area and requires a Michigan Recreation Passport / state park pass for vehicle entry. Please plan ahead and make sure your vehicle tabs/registration are up to date.
Parking: Parking closest to check-in is first come, first served. Our team will direct you when you arrive.
Parking rules (fire code):
Parking is staff-directed for fire code and emergency access. Please park only where our team instructs you—no parking in fire lanes, restricted areas, or on the grass unless it’s clearly marked as a designated parking area.
Vehicles parked in restricted areas may be towed (we truly don’t want that), so thank you in advance for helping us keep everyone safe.
Moving Between Locations
The festival is spread across two beautiful wooded areas, connected by a 0.4-mile trail. Please keep this in mind as you plan your schedule and give yourself time to walk between classes.
A shuttle will also run between locations, but due to construction this year, shuttle travel may take 15–20 minutes each way.
CAMPING + SHALA BUNKHOUSE ARRIVAL (Overnight guests)
If you are staying in the campground or Shala Bunkhouse, use this address:
Walled Lake Outdoor Education Center
3577 Sleeth Ct
Commerce, MI 48382
Only guests staying in the campground or Shala Bunkhouse should go directly to this location. Everyone else should arrive at the Proud Lake address above.
On-site parking near the campground/Shala area is limited (about 120 spots) and not guaranteed. Once full, all vehicles will be directed to overflow parking + shuttle.
Important Camping/Shala Arrival Notes (please read):
Wristbands are given at the gate before you park.
The spot labeled “check-in” on the map is actually an unloading area. You will unload first, then be directed to park.
On-site parking near the campground/Shala area is limited (about 120 spots) and not guaranteed.
Overflow parking is available at:
Twin Sun Early Childhood Center
2151 Loon Lake Rd
Wixom, MI 48393
Overflow Parking:
If you’re directed to overflow parking, please plan for your car to remain in the overflow lot until Sunday. We may be able to arrange a shuttle if needed, but the best plan is to park once and leave your car so we can keep traffic flowing and emergency access clear.
You can park there all weekend, and a shuttle will run to/from the campground.
Parking is staff-directed. No self-parking.
If the on-site lot is full and you move your car, there is no guarantee you’ll be allowed back in—you may need to park in overflow and shuttle back.
Gate note (after-hours entry):
For safety, the gate is locked for entry from the outside after 11:00 PM. If you’re already inside, the gate can open from the inside so no one is ever “trapped.”
Please plan to arrive before 11:00 PM if you need to drive in.
