Ashtanga Yoga Foundations

Friday | 1pm | Fairie Glen Yoga Tent

In this workshop, we’ll explore the roots of Ashtanga yoga—where the practice comes from, how it’s traditionally structured, and why it continues to influence so many movement practices today.

We’ll break down the standing and finishing postures, with plenty of space to explore how these shapes feel in your body. Samantha will guide you through the full expression of each pose, along with accessible modifications, so you can find the version that supports *you*. The goal isn’t to force yourself into a shape—it’s to understand how the pose can meet you where you are.

Ashtanga is a set sequence practiced around the world. That repetition can be a powerful tool for building awareness, consistency, and focus. Whether you’re new to the practice or want to reconnect with the foundations, this is a space to slow down, ask questions, and move with intention.

Teacher Bio

Samantha is the co-owner of Yoga Onyx, an RYT-500 yoga teacher, and a licensed professional counselor (LPC). Her yoga journey began with Ashtanga, studying virtually with Kino McGregor. Drawn to the discipline and ritual of the practice, she quickly discovered yoga’s deeper healing potential—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Motivated to integrate yoga into her therapeutic work, Samantha pursued advanced training through Authentic Movements, with an emphasis on accessible inversions, arm balances, and creative movement. Her teaching blends structure with freedom, honoring both tradition and exploration.

In every class, Samantha creates a supportive space for students to connect inward, explore their breath and body, and cultivate a sense of curiosity, presence, and self acceptance.
