Kid’s Discover Dance Class

DiscoverDance specializes in dance education for young children, using a science-backed and developmentally appropriate approach.

Instead of solely focusing on specific dance styles, DiscoverDance emphasizes the core concepts of movement, such as space, time, and energy. Class includes both teacher-led and student-led activities and prompts, encouraging creativity and exploration!

Teacher Bio

Lauren Sawson is an interdisciplinary artist and educator rooted in movement throughout her life. She holds a BFA in Dance from Wayne State University, is a 200-hour Certified Yoga Teacher primarily facilitating vinyasa classes, is trained in the STOTT Pilates method, and holds her First Degree in Reiki.

Lauren’s early training includes ballet, modern, jazz, and tap, later expanding into contemporary, West African, hip hop, and improvisation/composition. She also gained a strong foundation in pedagogy, anatomy, and kinesiology.

With nearly 20 years of teaching experience, Lauren is passionate about offering a comprehensive and enriching dance experience. She brings a special focus to early childhood dance education, through her training in the Discover Dance program, and encourages students to expand their skills. Certified in Acrobatic Arts, she integrates tumbling to build strength and coordination.
