Vovinam Vietnamese Martial Arts Intro
Vovinam, a traditional Vietnamese martial art founded in 1938 by Nguyễn Lộc. Vovinam combines striking, self-defense, grappling, and weapons training with a strong emphasis on both mental and physical discipline. Rooted in the philosophy of yin and yang, it teaches balance—between hard and soft, strength and compassion. As a practitioner and teacher, I carry forward this legacy of resilience, harmony, and cultural pride. Today, Vovinam is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam and is taught in schools across the country. I’m honored to share its principles wherever I go. At this workshop, you will learn the history and the basics, as well as yin & yang balanced movements to discipline the body and the mind.
Vietnamese American, born in San Jose, CA and now based in Metro Detroit. I’m a certified Vovinam martial arts instructor, dedicated to the balance of strength and compassion. I carry that same energy into Sen Kava--traditional noble kava from the Pacific Islands with Southeast Asian blends, rooted in harmony and devoted to cultivating intentional, connected community.
