Lila – The Cosmic Dance of Life

(1 hour) Have you ever wondered why life feels like a mix of chaos and beauty? In this workshop, we’ll explore the tantric view of lila, the divine play of existence, and uncover how this cosmic dance holds the key to understanding why we are here.

Why does life unfold as it does, full of challenges, joys, and contradictions? The concept of lila offers an answer: life is a divine play, a sacred act where duality, light and shadow, pleasure and pain, comes together to teach us, to awaken us.

In this lecture-based workshop, we’ll explore the tantric perspective on lila, moving beyond surface-level understanding to examine why we choose this earthly experience and what we stand to gain from it. Through the lens of tantra, duality is not an obstacle but a tool, guiding us toward joy and self-realization.

You’ll leave this workshop with a new way of looking at your life, seeing the interconnectedness of all events, the lessons within contrast, and how embracing the lila can bring clarity, joy, and balance to your journey. This is more than philosophy; it’s a way of living in harmony with the world’s inherent rhythm.

I’m Jack Utermoehl; yoga teacher, writer, and yoga-preneur. Certified as an E-RYT 200 and YACEP, my work bridges asana (physical posture), meditation, and the deeper dimensions of yoga philosophy.

My journey began in 2014 through the gateway of a severe personal anathema, leading me into a practice that evolved from physical healing into spiritual transformation. Along the way, I immersed myself in Advaita Vedanta, Vinyasa, Kriya Yoga, and Jungian archetypal psychology all of which shaped how I view my practice as a living myth: a personal hero’s journey.

In 2018, I founded Bhakti House to cultivate a heart-centered yoga community on Colorado’s Western Slope. That path expanded with Asivana Yoga in 2022, I created to offer purpose-built yoga gear for practitioners. In 2024, I launched Bhav Spiritual Jewelry, designing symbolic and energetically meaningful pieces with silver and gold to support spiritual transformation.

My work is for seekers, those navigating inner thresholds and outer change. I aim to create tools, spaces, and stories that help people remember who they are… then walk with purpose, meaning, and integrity on their path.
