The Art of Seeing You
How often do we get stuck in the story of ourselves? Most of us have been rejected, subjected, or felt dejected by an experience(s) that shaped our self image into a tangled mess, and that mess has been living rent-free in our head for years! Our stories are often a narrative that keeps us from living our fullest life, our truest self. And often, it takes someone else looking in, to remind us of the magic we bring to the world. In The Art of Seeing You, we will sit tenderly in community and allow ourselves to be seen and heard via prompts, with the intention of allowing our sangha to hear our story and form a picture of who we are. Then we grab our markers, tap into our inner Michelangelo or Frida Kahlo and get to drawing what we’ve learned. The steps to our creations will be revealed as we go, and each student leaves with a piece of art that represents a heartfelt offering from the group. No creativity required - just an open heart and a willingness to be seen!
Teacher Bio
I love yoga. I love making it real and accessible for everybody, and try to do so in my most authentic voice. Which means an occasional f-bomb, mixing up my right and left feet, some questionable playlist choices, and some shared tears when I’m feeling most vulnerable. I am a fierce advocate for body image positivity, health at every size, and I love nurturing my students with a down-to-earth class: exploring breath, awareness, movement and self-compassion. I love the smell of lavender, and if you come to class, I might offer you a drop for a blissed-out savasana. I like working with students from all walks of life, especially those who otherwise have felt unsure, unseen or shut out in previous yoga and movement experiences, because I was that yogi! I am also very passionate about working with yoga teachers on how to make classes accessible, and through my teacher training offerings, I encourage the teaching community to truly consider what it means to offer “yoga for EVERY body.”
