Nourished at the Root

  • Boyne, MI United States (map)

A three-night winter retreat for women ready to begin 2027 rooted in their own knowing

A private luxury A-frame in the woods of Boyne City, Northern Michigan | January 7 to 10, 2027 | Limited to 10 women

Everything around you is shifting. The systems you were raised to trust are changing shape, and advice keeps coming at you from every direction. Through all of it, one voice has been with you the whole time. It's yours, and it already knows the way.

Nourished at the Root is three winter nights in the snowy woods for women who want to begin this year rooted in that voice. You'll set down who you thought you had to be and come home to the woman underneath, held by a small circle of sisters and celebrated for exactly who you are.

You already know

You've done the work. You've sat in the circles and read the books, and you can name your patterns the moment they start. Still, there's a part of you that keeps waiting for permission, a sign, someone else's yes. If part of you is wondering who you are to take this time for yourself, try asking it the other way round: who are you not to?

You are whole as you are, and you always have been. What's been missing is a place where you can put everything down long enough to feel that, with women around you who reflect it back.

That place is a cabin in the snow, the first week of January.

This is for you if

  • You spent the holidays holding everyone else together and arrived at January with nothing left for yourself

  • You can feel this year asking something of you, and you want to meet it as your whole self

  • You're ready to stop carrying what was handed down to you, even the parts you can't quite name yet

  • You want sisterhood that goes deeper than conversation

  • You're exhausted by your own competence, and a quiet part of you is desperate to put down being the capable one

What you'll take home

  • A felt sense of the part of you that knows, and the trust to follow it when everything around you is moving

  • Freedom from patterns you inherited from your mother's line and your father's line, released at the root

  • A new peace inside you, where your softness and your strength each have their place at the table

  • A deeper understanding of how you're designed to decide, and when your body is asking you to rest

  • Clarity about what this year is calling you toward, whether that's something big or something beautifully simple

  • Women who know you at the root, and who'll be cheering for you all year long.

  • The women in these circles are building businesses, raising families and changing their corners of the world, and it’s not about competition. Something grounded and real is rising among women in Michigan right now, and this circle is part of it.

How the weekend unfolds

Every part of this weekend has been carefully curated, so all you have to do is arrive. You're taken care of from the moment you step through the door. Meals are made for you and the next step is always held, so you can relax and be fully present with yourself and wherever your attention wants to rest.

The days build on one another. On Thursday you arrive and leave the year behind at the door, and by bedtime you already feel held. Friday takes you down to your roots, to your mother's and father's lines as they still live in your body, with a long open afternoon to rest in the middle.

Saturday is the turning point. What you've been carrying, some of it for generations, moves through your body and becomes something lighter. Women often describe it as a release that's been waiting a very long time. In the afternoon, we’ll focus on your Human Design. You'll feel how your body is designed to decide and what your design is asking of you as the world moves into a new era, so you leave trusting your own signal above every voice outside you. That night you gather around the fire under the winter sky and step into 2027 as yourself.

Sunday is a slow breakfast and a gentle goodbye.

Each morning opens with movement. Every day holds ceremony and guided journeys, with spacious hours for the hot tub or simply lying by the fire. Nadia and Beth shape each session around what's present in the circle, so the weekend meets you exactly where you are.

The house

A black A-frame tucked into private woods. A wood-burning fireplace in Old World stone rises three stories through the living room, and that's where we'll gather. There's a hot tub hidden among the trees, lit with string lights after dark, and a sauna a few steps from fresh snow. A private trail winds through the property and crosses three creeks.

Once you arrive, there's nowhere else you need to be.

Nourished from the inside

A private chef prepares every meal in the Weston A. Price tradition, deeply nourishing food cooked with each woman's Human Design in mind. You won't plan a meal or wash a dish all weekend. All you have to do is come to the table.

Beth James

Beth James is the founder of Barefoot & Free, a yoga teacher, international retreat leader, and embodiment and integration coach with more than 20 years of experience guiding women through movement, connection, and personal growth. With her beloved yoga festival heading into its 13th year, Beth has built a community rooted in nature, adventure, and the freedom to be yourself. Her retreats bring people together around the world to reconnect with their bodies, trust their wisdom, and carry those experiences into everyday life. She also coaches spiritual entrepreneurs and business owners, helping them find their voice and turn meaningful ideas into offerings they’re proud to share. Whether leading a retreat or supporting someone’s next chapter, Beth makes room for honest conversations, big belly laughs, and the courage to follow what feels true.

Nadia Elmagrabi, MA.

Nadia is a licensed psychotherapist and Lineage Alchemist who has been in practice since 2001, with thousands of one-to-one sessions and more than 400 past life regressions behind her. She trained in past life work under Carol Bowman. In a 2019 regression, she met a woman many generations back in her family line who had endured years of abuse, and she understood that the rage she'd been carrying her whole life had belonged to that woman. Something ancient left her body that week, and that release is what she guides women toward now. She works at the root, where the patterns we inherit meet the way we're designed, and she can sit with whatever surfaces without flinching.

Maryellen Werstine

Maryellen Werstine is a healing arts practitioner, facilitator, coach, and intuitive sound guide. Through Boyne City Massage & Wellness, Orb Life Products, and her home farm, Wildwood Healing Ranch, she blends holistic wellness, ancient wisdom, and connection to nature. Her immersive sound journeys feature powerful gongs, crystal bowls, and vibrational instruments, inviting deep relaxation, inner exploration, and reconnection with self.

Amanda Olter

With an obsession for quality, Amanda believes food should be beautiful, nourishing, and delicious. Her meals highlight whole foods, traditional preparation, and local sourcing when possible, including from her own biodynamic farm, Heart's Pasture Farm.

Katherine’s healing arts training is rooted in the enduring wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the intersection of Eastern and Western bodywork, yoga, and sound healing. These time-tested practices offer a refuge from the frantic pace of modern life, inviting you into a more grounded, easeful, and connected state of being. What our past retreaters have to say

“In a world that constantly encourages us to do more, achieve more, and become more, there is something incredibly powerful about stepping away and reconnecting with ourselves.

Beth and Nadia created a warm, welcoming space and flow for us to enjoy meaningful conversations, reflect inward, and genuinely connect with an amazing group of women.

I’m grateful for the experience and the beautiful reminder that we don’t always need to be moving forward. Sometimes we simply need to return to ourselves. ❤️

“So, I signed up for the Return Retreat weekend because as they say, “It called to me.” As the event grew nearer, I felt a bit anxious not knowing what exactly I had got myself into... Ha! 🙃 I decided the best foot forward was to be open with no expectations for what the Return Retreat was going to do for me... Wow, I was pleasantly surprised! As soon as I walked-in to the Retreat House, Nadia & Beth made me feel so welcome as well as all of my fellow “retreaters.” 🤗It was nice to be able to share as little or as much as you wanted with the group or individually with the hosts. The bodywork and sound bath by Aleece were an amazing healing touch. Needless to say, I left Sunday morning feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and happy to have been part of such a memorable retreat. Many thanks.”

“Thank you for an incredible weekend. When I signed up, I believe things really started to break open and Saturday was everything I knew I needed. For years I’ve been feeling this heaviness in my chest that I just couldn’t shake.

Thank you for holding space for all of us and bringing us on that journey. You are a true healer and generous and loving human💛

Thank you, thank you! Love you.
”
— Kate
