Courtney looks for balance both on the board and on land. A Michigan native she grew up on, around and in the water. She found her way to the desert of Arizona where she attended Arizona State University studying Kinesiology and Dance. This is were she found yoga. It blended her love of an active and flexible life, both body and mind. After many years of personal practice Courtney enrolled at The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts and completed her initial 200 hour yoga teacher training. She continued her studies of Vinyasa Sequencing and Principles of Alignment at SWIHA, deepening her understanding of anatomy in relation to yoga asana. From the desert, she took the plunge and moved to Los Angeles so that she could focus on teaching and of course be by the Pacific Ocean.
It was in LA she was introduced to Stand-Up Paddle Boarding. She fell in love with the sport instantly. A “floating studio” came up on her search for yoga studios in her new home. The studio was YOGAqua, a combination of her two passions, yoga and SUP. In the spring of 2016 she completed her SUP Yoga teacher training under Sarah Teifenthaler and her WPA level 1 under Jeramie Vaine. Courtney has the great privilege of guiding SUP Yoga classes at her home “floating studio” YOGAqua in Marina Del Rey CA year round since she completed her training. She also is blessed to teach with various, amazing yoga festivals across the United States and Canada.
Courtney’s classes are a reflection of how she lives her life, joyous and in balance. She enjoys teaching athletic classes that are mindfully sequenced for all levels of yogi’s. She wants her students to find the same excitement and peace she does in her own practice. Most importantly, Courtney wishes for her students to find pure joy on the water, in the sun, experiencing SUP Yoga.
Reintroduce yourself to your yoga practice out on the water. This playful, vinyasa flow class will allow student’s to explore and deepen their asana’s while connecting to their breath and the water. This is an all level’s class, every yogi is welcome. However, having previous yoga experience is suggested.
