We are proud to have Anchored MI as our 2018 SUP (Stand Up Paddle Boarding) and Laura Tropea as our SUP Yoga Teacher at Barefoot & Free. Get to know a little bit more about Laura below and her journey with Yoga.

I found yoga in 2011 after suffering a traumatic injury to my right knee and 11 subsequent surgeries to repair the damage.  Prior to yoga I spent two years self medicating both my physical and emotional pain. It was only after taking my first yoga class that I again felt connected, whole and complete; and on the water I feel an even greater sense of connection to my inner being and the external world around me.  Yoga gave me back my life, my board gave me back my sense of possibility.

I love creating community.  I love watching people explore what they are capable of beyond the work of the pose. I love watching people fall off the board, recapturing a childlike sense of play.

I have spent the past seven years teaching yoga here in the States, including SUP yoga at the Stratton Wanderlust festival.  I have spent the last five years teaching yoga, SUP yoga and facilitating Teacher Training in Kenya & East Africa with Africa Yoga Project.  I am a E-RYT 500hr Certified Yoga Instructor, a Class I World Paddle Association Instructor, a 40hr YOGAqua Certified SUP Yoga Instructor & a Certified Trauma Informed Yoga Instructor.
